Project goals

Create a generic library for injecting 802.11 frames, capable of injection via multiple driver frameworks, without forcing modification of the application code for each platform/driver.

We're always looking for patches to add support for other devices and platforms, don't hesitate to email us or create a ticket with the patch (BSD? OSX?)

Current status

After years of stagnating, LORCON has been revamped (and given the version LORCON2). LORCON2 has a new API strongly modeled on libpcap, which should simplify writing applications, autodetection of drivers, capture support merged in, and capability for future expansion to non-802.11 PHY types.

LORCON2 will soon have it's first release candidate version, with support for mac80211 based drivers on Linux. Support for other drivers will be merged back in (with considerations towards removing very old drivers which are no longer relevant).

LORCON 2.0 RC1 Supported drivers:

  • mac80211 (Linux ath5k, ath9k, most rt chipsets, broadcom, etc)

LORCON 2.0 RC1 Planned drivers:

  • madwifi-ng (Linux)
  • airpcap (Win32)
